Berkendael: where architectural elegance meets historic heritage

Aperçu

Caring for bodies and souls! As you stroll through this chic, vibrant district, with its mix of exclusive boutiques and its hushed atmosphere, it is impossible not to feel the imprint of the past. Here, the emblematic figures of Doctor Antoine Depage and Resistance nurse Édith Cavell have left their mark on the history of medicine and treatment. Their discoveries and devotion still resonate in these history-steeped streets. At the heart of Place Brugmann, the church of Notre-Dame de l’Annonciation stands guard majestically. This jewel of brick architecture, a refined example of religious Art Deco, invites contemplation and meditation. Along the way, you can also admire sumptuous private residences that reflect the architectural refinement of the period. Lastly, our walk ends at the monument to Édith Cavell and Marie Depage, a poignant tribute erected on the site of the former Édith Cavell clinic. Saturday and Sunday at 10.00 am (FR) and 2.00 pm (FR) (duration 2hrs, maximum 20 people per departure) In collaboration with E-GUIDES. Photographs are permitted, but only with smartphones.
