The Cité Moderne, a modernist vision by Victor Bourgeois

Aperçu

Between the wars, some 30 architects began designing garden cities, a model aimed at providing quality housing for the working and middle classes. This was not a "village"-style vision, as elsewhere in Brussels, but a succession of small, medium and large spaces... A modernism that tended towards cubism. The young architect Victor Bourgeois was literally at the helm, as he was also involved in the creation of the Société des Coopérateurs de la Cité Moderne. His project was awarded the Grand Prix at the 1925 Paris Exhibition, which gave its name to Art Deco. In collaboration with Bruxelles Bavard.
