Clockarium
With its remarkable collection of earthenware clocks (over 1,300 pieces!), the museum known as the "Clockarium" has earned a well-deserved reputation. But the house that contains it is not lacking in interest either. This fine example of an Art Deco townhouse was built in 1935 by architect Gustave Bossuyt. At the time, it was a two-storey "stepped style" building with a third-floor terrace and pergola, which was replaced in 1953 by a large bedroom with bathroom, according to plans drawn up by architect L. Schoemaker. In the lobby, an Art Deco fountain paved with mosaics is a welcome prelude to the discovery of fireplace trimmings from all over Europe. This beautiful world, full of noble materials, fits in perfectly with the style of the museum itself and offers a unique angle of exploration in Brussels for the ever-growing number of visitors. Recently restored, the museum has undergone a real facelift. Photographs are permitted, but must not disrupt the tour in progress.
