We are offering a one-hour tour of the Logis-Floréal in Watermael-Boitsfort, an architectural complex built in the 1930s and a true example of Art Deco architecture applied to social housing. This emblematic site embodies the ideals of the garden city movement, with particular attention paid to the integration of architecture into a natural environment and to the residents’ quality of life. The tour will reveal the distinctive features of Art Deco in residential buildings: clean lines, geometric shapes and innovative materials for the period. By strolling through the gardens and outdoor spaces, visitors will also be able to appreciate the central role of nature in the city’s design and its impact on community life. This visit will reflect on the social and architectural history of Brussels in the 1930s, while highlighting a housing model designed for the development of working-class and middle-class populations. This is a unique opportunity to explore the evolution of the Watermael-Boitsfort district and the lasting legacy of Art Deco in public housing. In collaboration with Le Tamanoir.
