“L’Art Décoratif C. Dangotte”: archives, Art Deco and feminism with Michelle Van Meerhaeghe
This meeting delves into the archives of the La Cambre school, in particular those of Albert Van Huffel. This architect and designer, who taught at the school, worked with a key figure in Belgian decorative art and feminism, namely Céline Dangotte. In 1912, and until the Second World War, she ran her own decorating business, L’Art Décoratif C. Dangotte (AD/CD). During this time, she became associated with many of the leading architects and designers of Belgian Art Deco, and made a name for herself in this extremely masculine milieu. In collaboration with L'Architecture qui Dégenre and La Cambre - École Nationale Supérieure des Arts Visuels. Photographs are permitted, but only with smartphones.
