Aperçu

6 September 2025 (14:30 - 14:40) The Renfrew Bridge is a newly opened two-lane road and pedestrian bridge spanning the River Clyde, connecting Renfrew with Clydebank and Yoker. Officially opened on 9 May 2025, it is the first opening road bridge across the Clyde, stretching 184 metres and linking key areas from Renfrew to the boundary between Glasgow and West Dunbartonshire. The bridge features a twin-leaf design that opens horizontally to accommodate passing ships, inspired by the region's rich shipbuilding heritage. It incorporates a cable-stay system similar to the Queensferry Crossing, allowing for safe passage for vehicles, cyclists, and pedestrians. Constructed with sections fabricated in the Netherlands, the bridge is part of the Clyde Waterfront and Renfrew Riverside project, aimed at enhancing economic growth and regenerating the waterfront. A new 750-metre road connects the bridge to the Advanced Manufacturing Innovation District Scotland (AMIDS), while pedestrian and cycling routes link to Yoker train station and the national cycling network. The Renfrew Bridge not only serves as a vital transport link but also symbolises the connection between communities along the Clyde. The Renfrew Bridge will open for spectators as part of the Doors Open Days on 6 September at 2:30 PM. Please note that the Renfrew Bridge is an operational bridge, and access may be subject to change due to vessel movements on the day. Access to the bridge control room will not be granted, as this is a working space in use during the event. Please note: There is no car park available at the bridge.
