7 September 2025 (10:00 - 17:00) The Auld Kirk, St Monans dates from the mid-fourteenth century when it was founded by King David II. It has been in almost constant use as a place of worship and pilgrimage since then, although it has found other uses over the years too, most notably as stables for Oliver Cromwell’s horses! Now the Kirk is facing a new future outwith ownership by the Church of Scotland, as St Monans Auld Kirk Enterprise (SMAKE) take on responsibility for the building as a community asset, and develop plans to repair and refurbish the space for full, accessible future use. Come along to enjoy a cuppa in this fantastic, unique sacred space and learn more about the journey so far as well as plans for the next phase in the Kirk’s long history.
