Notable features include the Hawkhead Railway Bridge, built by Thomas Telford, which is the oldest railway bridge still in active use in Scotland. You can also explore the route of the "Dummy Railway," now part of a national cycle route, and learn about Jenny's Well Laundry. The site of the former Whinhill Quarry, which transitioned from a landfill to a vibrant wetland, as well as remnants of allotments that existed until the 1960s, further highlight the area’s rich heritage. We invite you to discover the evolution of Jenny's Well Nature Reserve, showcasing how it has enriched the local community and adapted over time. This reserve not only serves as an idyllic retreat for both people and wildlife but also plays a crucial role in enhancing resilience against climate change and biodiversity declines.
