6 September 2025 (10:00 - 17:00) Held within the Milngavie Library, The Milngavie Heritage Centre group’s next heritage exhibition explores the fascinating history of Mains Estate and its connection to the Douglas Family. The “Douglas” name is very familiar in Milngavie; think of Douglas Academy, Douglas Street and Douglas House (formerly the local cinema). The name derives from one of the oldest landowning families in the Milngavie area. Their old estate of Mains has been largely developed for modern housing in a semi-rural setting. It also an opportunity to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of Mains Estate Residents Association, which was founded in 1975. The exhibition will run from Saturday 6th September until Saturday 8th November 2025 during normal library opening hours.
