Aperçu
The Hotel de Grimoüard was built in 1741 for the knight Pierre-Marthe de Grimoüard, lord of Guinefolle, by reusing the basements of the previous residence, named la Tête Noire or l'Écu de France. Following an agreement made in 1804, the hotel was acquired by the City in 1807; it was then assigned to housing the clergy of Notre-Dame and, from 1824 to 1895, served as a Town Hall. The remarkable points of this residence are the entrance hall, its updated staircase and its ancient cellars, vaulted on two levels, which the students of the Lycée Rabelais will be pleased to show you.
