Explore heritage differently! The Department of Alpes-Maritimes offers you, for JEP 2025, new activities open to all. The Lazaret cave is a prehistoric site of international scientific and cultural interest that was occupied by Archaic Neanderthals from – 190,000 to – 120,000 years ago. Visits to the prehistoric site Duration: 20 min / All public / Every 30 min Visit this high place of world prehistory (-190,000 to -120,000 years) to understand the emergence of classical forms of Neanderthal man on the Mediterranean coast and in Europe.
