Aperçu

During a guided tour, discover the contemporary art center of Delme and the history of the ancient synagogue that houses it. Explore the unique architecture of this building built at the end of the 19th century in an Orientalizing style. This place hosted the Jewish community of Delme for nearly a century before being transformed into a contemporary art center. For about thirty years, artists have found there a space of research and production conducive to experimentation and creation. The exhibition Futurs intérieurs by Brice Dellsperger presents several gouaches on paper as well as a video installation previously unseen in France: Body Double 39. The series Body Double, started in the 1990s, consists of remakes of scenes from cult films. The theme of the double, dear to the artist, runs through his entire work, questioning the construction of our imaginations and our systems of thought. In the unique architectural setting of the art center – the ancient synagogue of Delme, designed as the decor of a fantasised Orient –, the approach of Brice Dellsperger finds a very particular resonance.
