The Famine walk will focus on Thurles, during the Great Hunger (An Gorta Mór) of 1845-1852. The talk will explore Thurles Workhouse and it’s roll during the famine. The walk will also give an insight into the clerical roll during that period. It will also visit the famine graves of the forgotten victims of The Great Hunger (An Gorta Mór) etc. The walk will take about an hour depending on the level of fitness of those attending. The event will only go ahead with weather permitting. Event will only go ahead if weather is permitting.
