Aperçu

EIRE 6 Howth is a 40-foot stone sign, built in the summer of 1943 as a WWII ariel navigation marker. The EIRE sign was one of 83 built during the war to delineate our coastline and military neutrality. Restored by the EIRE 6 Restoration Group and the Howth community, and launched by President Higgins in 2022. The sign and education board are now part of Howth Head, which allows schools, walkers, visitors, and local families to understand a part of our local history and enjoy the beauty of the east mountain and cliff path. Join a walk from the Summit Carpark to the sign. A short 10-minute walk with Restoration Group member Conn Redmond. Learn about the history of the sign, the restoration, and the future of our biodiversity and heritage.
