Walk through Cork City's impressive geological history. This walk is suitable for anyone who is curious about how the city's landscape, rivers and rocks came about. Get familiar with how the geology intersects with Cork's human history and find out what 'geoheritage' exactly is. The language will be easy with key sites and visuals to help along the way. INFO: The tour is about 3 kilometres: starting at the City Council, Anglesea St before going through the city and ending at Upper John St in Shandon. Previous years' participants expressed new found ways of seeing the city after the tour - hopefully you will too! For the full geological experience, you can join the UCC Fossil Trail at UCC at 10am on the same day. Then join this tour at 12 to explore how Cork City came about. Time: August 17th 2024, 12pm. Place: Cork City Council - Entrance at Anglesea Street. Opposite Cork District Court. What to bring: - Your smartphone. - Bottle of water.
