Aperçu
Discover the fascinating history of the tobacco factory in Morlaix through an exhibition offered in free access, which explores 3 centuries of architectural history of this emblematic industrial site of Brittany. Installed on the ground floor of the Espace des sciences, this free exhibition traces the major stages in the evolution of this emblematic place:
- the construction of a royal factory in the 18th century by order of Louis XV,
- its modernization in the 19th century at the era of mechanization,
- its reconversion in the 21st century to accommodate a new scientific, technical and industrial culture establishment. Interactive models, 3D plans, connected objects and architect’s tables invite you to explore the rigor and elegance of the building, while discovering the technical and human challenges of industrial production. And if you feel like it, you can extend the visit of the Science Space by accessing the paid tour and the 8 other exhibitions. Here the sciences are told through the history of the site, its extraordinary machines and the stories of former workers.
