Guided tour of the castle of Mionnaz
Located on the old road between Chambéry and Geneva, the castle of Mionnaz has a fascinating history dating back to 1278, when it first appears in the archives. This fortified house, transformed over the centuries into a castle by the families of Mionnaz and de Montfort, has seen many historical figures pass by, including André de Montfort, governor of Nice, who successfully resisted in 1543 to a siege of the Turks and the French. The castle was also frequently visited by Saint Francis de Sales, who met the Montfort family there. Although ravaged by a fire in 1868, it was partially rebuilt at the end of the 19th century, thus preserving the traces of an era glorified by its fortifications and majestic developments. The visit includes a tour of the common areas, large hall, classroom, towers and garden terrace. All illustrated with historical facts and anecdotes Informations By restriction
