La Coutellerie & Forges Honoré Durand, a family-run French company with Geographical Indication certification, continues the tradition of excellence and opens its doors all year round for free guided tours. With our two professions of blacksmiths and cutlers, all the stages of manufacturing a Laguiole knife are carried out in our workshops in Laguiole. Discover our artisanal manufacturing through free visits all year round: 1 – the main tour: visit to the cutlery workshop In the first part, sitting in an air-conditioned amphitheater, discover the history of Laguiole, the «true-false», the sharpening ... (with answers to questions). In the second part, you pass through the workshop with a cutler; he shapes the handle of a Laguiole knife in front of you. Departure of visits at times 11am – 2:30pm – 3:45pm – 5:00pm. With more than 10 adults, guided tours for both parties. With less than 10 adults, guided tour + video. With less than 6 adults, video. 2 – the technical visit: the mechanical forging Get to the heart of our job as a blacksmith through an educational journey to discover the manufacturing processes for blades, springs, bees, bolsters and sinkers. Friday only: free & informative visit. 3 – the historical visit: our Museum and the blacksmith of Damascus steel Admire our heritage of forged objects and our collection of old Laguiole knives.
