Aperçu
At the Viuz-Faverges Museum, 2500 years of history told by archaeology
Site museum consisting of three rooms: its collections come from ancient discoveries, excavations and more recent prospections in the region. The objects presented, from the most banal to the most sophisticated, make us relive the highlights of human occupation from the Neolithic period to the 18th century in the canton of Faverges. Polished stone axes, bronze or amber ornaments, jewelry, coins, pottery, tools, cauldron are the testimony. The Gallo-Roman period is the most represented thanks notably to a abundant material discovered on the sites of the sanctuary, of the vicus and of the villa (mansio) of the Thovey. You will be able to practice recognizing the perfumes of some spices and plants used during the Roman period The museum is fully accessible to people with reduced mobility. Particular attention is paid to children, visually, auditory or psychologically impaired persons. Do not hesitate to ask one of the volunteers and to the Guide to the Heritage of Savoie Mont-Blanc who will be at your disposal in the museum rooms. Children’s game booklet on request.
