Finistérien paletometallurgist and storyteller Malo Kervern will manufacture and present this lead-based white powder, also called Saturn’s white, prized for its ability to erase the marks of time by making the skin white. Applied to the face, it masked imperfections and symbolized purity and youth. The freed slaves covered their hands for the seven days of Saturnalia. Despite its toxicity, it remained in use in the Middle Ages, during the Renaissance and even until its total prohibition in 1915 On Sunday at 3 PM: Archaeodemo manufacturing of an antique perfume. The discovery of a Bronze Age perfumery in Cyprus lifted a veil on the techniques used to make perfumes 3000 years ago. From these remains, experimental archaeology seeks to find the gestures and techniques. Come discover two very old techniques of perfume making and the sometimes very surprising results! And all weekend at 11am, 3pm, and 4:30pm: guided tour of the archaeological garden to discover the history of the Osisms, the romanized Gauls who founded 2000 years ago their capital in the center of Armorique: Vorgium, located under the current Carhaix.
