Welcome to the church of Sainte-Marie, better known as Notre-Dame des Cuns, in the heart of the hamlet of Cuns.A Romanesque church from the 12th century
Mentioned as early as 1135 in a bull of Pope Innocent II, the church retains its Romanesque origin with its apse in cul-de-four and the barrel-vaulted choir.Over the centuries, it has undergone transformations:
14th century: reconstruction of the nave and porch. 15th century: addition of the south chapel.A classified monument
The church has been classified as a historical monument since 1942. It is owned by the municipality of Nant. The cult ceased there around 1840, but the building remains a precious witness of the religious and architectural history of Larzac.Points to discover:
