Aperçu

Nestled in the heart of a green setting, the chapel of Notre-Dame de la Houssaye is one of the treasures of Pontivy’s heritage. Built from 1435 under the impetus of the Rohan family, it illustrates the architectural evolution of the Flamboyant Gothic until the 19th century, with the addition of a bell tower topped by a neogothic spire. Its interior protects a remarkable set of ancient statues, including a limestone series from the 16th century representing different saints and a moving sculpture of the martyrdom of Saint Apolline. The real jewel of the building remains, however, its large choir altarpiece, made in the 16th century in carved limestone, illustrating the episodes of the Passion of Christ. Take advantage of your visit to extend the discovery with a pleasant walk to the chapel fountain, located below. A place of tranquility, history and beauty, to explore freely.
