Completion of the second phase of work

After extensive restoration work, the building is now in a light that no one had seen for more than a century. The vaulted sacristy was completely restored three years ago. The two chapels, mortuary and baptismal font, were restored in the condition that had wanted for them the president Pierre-Robert Le Roux d'Esneval in the 18th century.

Artisans of art to restore the building

The decors are based on the results of a study carried out by a specialized laboratory and the modifications made in the past have been erased to the original state. A company specializing in the restoration of painted and carved decorations has worked to restore the building to its original luster. Stonemasons and stone cutters, carpenters and carpenters, ironworkers and glassmakers have competed for the know-how so that the church of Acquigny will become again for a century at least the jewel that our ancestors bequeathed us.

Much remains to be done

Although the work carried out allows to give a youth to this neoclassical style church, some elements are still degraded. The roof and interior of the nave must be revised, the chapels of the Rosary and Saint Francis, the turret-staircase of the pulpit to preach, the apartments of the President, the interior of the sacristy still have to be restored.

An association serving the building

Since 2006, the Association des Amis de l'église Sainte Cécile has been working with the municipality of Acquigny to support the building and raise some of the necessary funds. The members of this association will be at your disposal to make you discover these architectural and ornamental wonders as well as details and anecdotes on the history of the building. You can walk freely or be accompanied for a visit rich in surprises. Accessibility
