Waed Bouhassoun sings Oum Kalthoum
On the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the death of Oum Kalthoum, Waed Bouhassoun offers a vibrant tribute to this timeless icon of Arabic music. Entitled Ghanili «chante-moi» in Arabic, this concert takes its name from one of the most emblematic songs in the repertoire of the great diva, still alive in the collective memory. Waed Bouhassoun revisits the masterpieces of the golden age of classical Arabic music (1930-1970), with the desire to share them again, in their emotional richness and poetic depth. She chooses to accompany him with a traditional formation, a takht, small group of four musicians, faithful to the spirit of the intimate concerts of the past, before the appearance of the great orchestras influenced by the West. Nourished by years of musical encounters and research, Waed Bouhassoun seizes this repertoire with a new maturity, at the crossroads of cultures and aesthetics. She invites the audience to a true listening ritual, where the voice becomes a bridge between eras, languages and emotions.
