Self-guided tour of the Sewer Museum
Immerse yourself in the underground history of the capital at the Musée des Égouts de Paris, a unique place that reveals the backstage of one of the world’s oldest and most complex sewage systems. Located in the heart of the active galleries of the Parisian sewer system, the museum offers a sensory and educational immersion within historical infrastructures still in operation. The 45 to 60-minute route invites visitors to explore 500 metres of galleries located under the Quai d'Orsay, near the Pont de l'Alma. These spaces, where the city’s wastewater circulates daily, bear witness to the technical and social evolution of Paris since the 19th century. The museum provides accommodations for people with reduced mobility, with an elevator to access galleries. The constant temperature of 13°C and the characteristic odours from the sewers are a reminder of the authenticity of the site. Informations We can accommodate up to 200 people simultaneously in the galleries. Last access at 4pm. Accessibility
