Aperçu

On the occasion of the 2025 edition of the European Heritage Days, discover the castle of Lugny, in Haut-Mâconnais. The guided tours will include several stops that will allow to restore the castle in its pre-Revolutionary environment (discovery of the Castle district), to recall the circumstances of its partial destruction by the "Brigands" during the Great Fear of July 1789, to evoke the noble families who owned the land of Lugny, to know the use of places from 1789 to the Second World War (gendarmerie barracks, notarial office, mill, presbytery, etc.) before discovering the circumstances of the installation in 1946 of a boys' school with boarding, currently private college "La Source". Novelty 2025: you will be able to access the playground of the private college, which occupies the site of the old seigniorial residence burned down in 1789. Led by Frédéric Lafarge, these guided tours, free and without prior reservation, lasting about one hour, are scheduled at 11 am, 2:30 pm and 4 pm (departure at the foot of the entrance towers, in front of the explanatory panel). They will also lead the curious to discover Mgr Joseph Robert Park to admire the bicentenary purple beech labeled "Remarkable Tree of France" in 2018. Informations Free entry
