In the footsteps of the abbey of Micy
The members of the Pryvataine association of local History wished to make their contribution in the reconstruction of the abbey church St-Etienne de Micy, built during the reign of St-Louis, probably on the foundations of the Romanesque church which preceded it. It is by following in the footsteps of significant events and the lives of a few characters who have brought to life, to die and relive the monastic life of Micy Abbey and by conducting a long and meticulous research work that the local history association pryvataine can present as part of an exhibition what was the 13th century abbey church on the site of Micy Abbey. We have endeavoured to give back a reality to the places and buildings that have made Micy famous over the centuries. The documents we used do not give us the precision we would have liked, for a finer approach to these beautiful buildings that we are missing today. However, the millenary activity of the abbey of Micy, invites us to admire the work of the generations who preceded us in our territory. A model of the 13th century abbey church was created from reconstructed plans of the building. A book summarizing the research work of the members of the local history association will be sold during the exhibition. Friday is reserved for schoolchildren and their institutions.
