Tosenn Keler guided tour - Reconstruction of an archaeological site
The destination of this important set remains enigmatic because it does not present any grave. It is certain that two important stoves were first established. On the other hand, a main cairn was built over these stoves. The excavations also revealed the presence of a secondary cairn near the main cairn. The whole is covered with an enormous dome of silt surrounded by a structure of large stones open to the East. At the end of the excavations, the monument was to be completely destroyed. The town of Tréguier proposed to ensure the conservation and presentation to the public of the stones making up the tumulus belt, as the commune of Penvénan did not yet have a suitable place to do so. In 1964, 55 stones are installed on the quays in Tréguier. On June 25, 2018, with the agreement of the municipality of Tréguier and the Regional Archaeological Service, the transfer of stones constituting the tumulus belt took place at the site of Saint-Gonval, a symbolic place that perpetuates the existence of the monastery at the very origin of the parish of Penvénan, therefore of our commune. The reconstruction of the tumulus belt has been made, both in its size and in the arrangement of stones, as faithfully as possible to that of its original site. The transfer was carried out by a specialized company with the help of the technical services of the municipality. Accessibility
