Aperçu

The Société d'histoire et d'archéologie de Cernay et Environs, as well as the Porte de Thann museum, invite you to visit the religious buildings rebuilt after their destruction during the First World War. These are the churches of Saint-Étienne de Cernay, Saint-Morand de Steinbach, Saint-Érasme d'Uffholtz, Saint-Jean-Baptiste de Wattwiller and the Protestant temple of Cernay. The itinerary allows to discover the very different stylistic approaches of the major architects of the reconstruction in Alsace: Paul Gélis, architect of the Historical Monuments, who ensured the reconstruction of the church of Wattwiller (and the Porte de Thann) ; Louis Schwartz, who rebuilt the churches of Cernay, Steinbach and Uffholtz; Charles Schulé and Louis Seltzer, who rebuilt the Protestant temple based on the plans they had established in 1905 for its construction. Informations Guided tours of each building (30 min) on September 21st. 14h and 15h for the churches of Cernay, Steinbach, Uffholtz, Wattwiller and the temple. 16h and 17h for the churches of Cernay, Steinbach, Wattwiller and the temple.
